On Location w/ HumandotProject - Maryland Portrait Photographer

As I get older, I grow to appreciate home the more I travel back.  The small town of Atwater, California that I grew up in, where nothing ever happened now has a movement that is uniting humanity in a time when it is most needed.  Human. was started by Stephen Hillyer while he was a student at Buhach Colony High school and he now attends UC Davis where he a Senior and Psychology major.

Human. is a movement dedicated to pursuing respect and equality for all people. The organization is steadfast on removing labels that society has implemented and they are advocates for EVERYONE!  The cores values for this company are easy and if you believe in them then you should show support by joining the movement.  They are RESPECT for all human beings, Envision all human beings as EQUAL and, ADVOCATE for those that are marginalized, singled out, groups and communities.

When you get behind this movement and you see another person in this apparel, it is an understanding that you see each other only as a HUMAN.  That you can respect differences, treat the person fairly and as you would want to be treated and you will advocate on their behalf should they ever need you to do so.  I was in awe of the drive for this organization and had a wonderful time visiting this family with such a sincere heart for change and equality.  With every purchase a sweatshirt is donated to the local homeless population of Merced County.

Ms. Veteran America 2016 - Maryland Photographer

In early October, I had the honor of capturing the Ms. Veteran America award celebration.  These ladies are amazing and have proudly or are currently serving in the military.  These women as part of the competition take on the platform of raising money and awareness for homeless female veterans and their families.  For this campaign the women raised $80K towards the initiative and the organization of Final Salute Inc.
This competition is far from a beauty pageant!  These ladies not only compete in talent, questions and stage presentation; but they also competed in a push up competition right on the stage in front of the spectators.  It was great to see those that dropped cheer on their comrades in this section of the night.  From 25 it went to the Top 10 and then the Final 3 and then the final question.  Congrats to Captain Molly Mae Porter who was crowned Ms. Veteran America 2016!

Corporate Photography - Maryland Photographer

A fun makeup and creative session with this DC Psychologist made the day super entertaining.  She was not in her comfort zone at the beginning, but by the end we were all laughs and smiles.  She incorporates yoga into her practice and needed portraits for her website to showcase that.  I loved the fact that she incorporated color into her photos and made them stand out even more.

Per Scholas Program - Maryland Photographer

Not to long ago I was asked to come capture photographs of students in a program that teaches computer technology.  This program is a non-profit that survives off of donations and enables individuals an opportunity to learn a trade to make a living.  What I like about the program is the age range varies which shows it is never to late to learn something new or start over.

WOE Magazine Launch - Maryland Photographer

An amazing time was had by all that attended the WOE Magazine Launch that happened at the Nordstrom's in Annapolis.  Let me begin by saying that it was a first class event and Candice Nicole PR came through on all the details of the event. Ayo and her team was amazing and it was a very uplifting event.  The panel gave words of wisdom on daily life as well as starting your business and building your dreams.  There was a mini fashion show to showcase the WOE women which has many facets to her life and also makeup staff was on hand to glam up the participants.

If you would like to subscribe to WOE Magazine you can do so at www.woemagazine.com.

Dine Diaspora - Maryland Photographer

I was recently contacted to come on board as a feature photographer for an event known as Dine Diaspora.  It was an interesting event where the three ladies that put on these quarterly events, bring together leaders in the community and they discuss issues to specific to their groups and how to interact and share ideas and ultimately to network and build with each other.  The also bring in a guest chef that specializes in Diaspora type cuisine.  I was very impressed with everything from the table settings to the Chef and his menu presentation and the stories that made up the menu.  These ladies are on to something and I hope they keep it going and grow.

Editor-In-Chief Session - Maryland Photographer

Recently I was contacted by an amazingly talented women to photograph her Editor-In-Chief portraits for her upcoming magazine launch.  We had one brief conversation and I knew we would be a perfect combo.  Upon arriving at the location and meeting her glam squad things just came together.  Little did I know everything I was going to learn that day nor the connections to come.  God is always on time!
