BALTIMORE MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHY - FALL OUTDOOR GLAMOUR

Revisiting some of my sessions that I didn't get to post and this was one of my favorites.  A glam maternity is always liberating for a mom to be!  I think it gives women a chance to just let go and have fun right before the big day...at least that is what this mother said to me.  The chance to be outdoor and just to relax and just be was a great feeling.  She came out and was gorgeous with her hair and makeup and then her outfit just topped of the looks.  Once hubby jumped in and the couple shared their excitement for the new arrival it was a wrap.

Check out the images from the session with Ayo and Keinde!

SAN ANTONIO SENIOR PHOTOGRAPHY - AROUND THE TOWN SHOOT

So proud of this young lady right here!  I met her when she was just 3 years old and now she is 17 and getting ready to graduate high school.  She has turned out to be a respectful, polite, intelligent, god-fearing person and I just love being around her!  oh and her sense of fashion is off the charts!  Her mother has done well raising her and I just couldn't wait to get to San Antonio to take her portraits.

We started the day with makeup  and hair and then off to the Alamo for some quick shots. We then headed to the rooftop of the River Walk parking center for a couple of clothing changes and then to Hemisphere park.  We then concluded the day at the Hayes Street bridge to get the view of the city skyline in the cap and gown.  A first class session for a first class girl!

Survivor Saturday w/ Vatesha B. - Maryland Photographer

Hello everyone!  It's Survivor Saturday with Ms. Vatesha!  We had a time trying to get this session scheduled but she was a trooper and we got it done.  We had a great time and laughed so much during this session!  I love a person that can laugh through life and have a great time.  This school teacher came ready to get her glam on and pose for her life!  Everyone please meet Vatesha...

1. What type of cancer were you diagnosed with and when?

Breast Cancer- diagnosed February 27, 2014

When I was diagnosed back in 2014, I was diagnosed at stage 2B, which meant that my cancer had spread into my lymph nodes. From the time I received the news until I began treatment was a whirlwind. I got the news in February and my team of doctors wanted to start treatment right away. Because I was so young and had no kids, it was suggested that I see a fertility specialist about getting my eggs frozen. During the month of March I was under the care of Shady Grove Fertility Clinic and I had my eggs frozen. Soon after I began my chemo treatment on April 4, 2014. I finished on July 11, 2014. A month later on August 20, 2014 I received a lumpectomy to remove the tumor and the lymph nodes affected by the cancer. Finally from September from to November I received radiation.

Upon diagnosis, my family, friends, and colleagues were there for me from the very start. I had so much support from everyone that it was overwhelming. I was so grateful for all the love and support I received. It really gave me the strength I needed to fight and beat the disease.

2. How old were you when you were diagnosed?

            36

3. What/Who helped you get through your treatment?

My faith in God, my family, my best friends, colleagues, my sorority sisters

4. When were you deemed Cancer Free?

           August 20, 2014

5. What did you do to celebrate that special day and your anniversary day?

Participated in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer walk with family, friends, sorority sisters Had a big dinner party at one of my favorite restaurants

6. Do you have any special charities that you are involved in or host as a survivor?

Participate in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer walk back home in Charlotte, NC

7. What advice would you give to someone that is just being diagnosed?

FIGHT!!  Having a positive attitude and believing that you're going to beat cancer is half the battle. Also have a strong support system around you to get you through those tough moments.

Survivor Saturday w/ LaQuisha Hawkins - Maryland Portrait Photographer

After a week off we are back with another Survivor at Catherine Rae Photography. Let me tell you that I love the Hawkins family!!!!  LaQuisha came to her shoot ready to go and her two sisters accompanied her!  They were a blast to have over for the session.  We laughed, changed lipstick and just had a great time.  They are a close family and their sisterhood and love for each other was evident.  Please read LaQuisha's story and share with all you know!  Everyone, meet LaQuisha!

1.  What type of cancer were you diagnosed with and when?

I was diagnosed with Breast cancer Stage 0 DCIS and I was diagnosed on March 14. I had gone to the doctor(on March 4) for a severe headache that I had had for a couple of days that wouldn’t go away after taking medication while I was there the doctor saidit was time I have my mammogram so I took it that day and on March 10 the doctor called to say that it was abnormal could I come back in to retake it so I did and they saw calcium deposits in my right breast so I was asked to take a biopsy that same day (Friday, March 11). Then on Monday, March 14  on my day off while I was shopping in Target I got the call that I did in fact have breast Cancer Stage 0 DCIS(Ductal Carcinoma in Situ) which means in place that it has not spread. Needless to say I was devastated and couldn’t even finish shopping or drive myself home. I managed to call my Mom and she sent my Dad and cousin to come and pick me up.

2.  How old were you when you was diagnosed?

I was 45 when I was diagnosed.

3.  What/who helped you get through your treatment?

My faith in GOD and my family/friends have been and still are my ROCK. I never questioned God as to why this happened to me I just trusted that He would get me through and He did. He says I will never leave you nor forsake you and my family and friends were there right from the start when I first got the news and have been there ever since every step of the way changing their eating habits with me, going to doctor’s appointments, throwing me a Pink and White Party just being there for me for anything that I needed and I’m truly so thankful and blessed to have them.

4.  When were you deemed cancer free?

I  had a mastectomy and reconstruction on JULY 22 so I am happy to say that I am cancer free. It has been 7 months and although I’m still getting adjusted to this new boob for the most part I feel great and very grateful that I didn’t have to do chemo or radiation. PRAISE GOD so yeah I am BLESSED!!!!

5.  What did you do to celebrate that special day and your anniversary day?

I haven’t really celebrated and I’m not sure what I will do on my 1 year Cancerversary I’m just thankful and grateful to be here to share my story so that it may help someone else.

6.  Do you have any special charities that you are involved in or host as a survivor?

Not as of yet

7.  What advice would you give to someone that is just being diagnosed?

Don’t give up. Keeping fighting and trust God that He will get you through. You CAN and you WILL SURVIVE…..I DID!!!! Also, read and educate yourself because every situation is different. Don’t be afraid to ask your doctors questions no question is a dumb one!

Holiday Family Sessions - Maryland Photographer

If you didn't have time to get your family holiday session in before the end of 2016....there is still time!  Now that we have snow on the ground here in the DC, Maryland, Virginia area, there are some great locations to get your family photos taken.

I met this amazing and adorable family and we went out on a chilly morning to capture these few portraits off of the Potomac River in Washington, DC.  The kiddos as you can see are absolutely to cute for words and were real troopers in the cold weather.  They came ready to have the camera capture some fun moments and awesome hugs between brother and sister.

Corporate Photography - Maryland Photographer

A fun makeup and creative session with this DC Psychologist made the day super entertaining.  She was not in her comfort zone at the beginning, but by the end we were all laughs and smiles.  She incorporates yoga into her practice and needed portraits for her website to showcase that.  I loved the fact that she incorporated color into her photos and made them stand out even more.

Per Scholas Program - Maryland Photographer

Not to long ago I was asked to come capture photographs of students in a program that teaches computer technology.  This program is a non-profit that survives off of donations and enables individuals an opportunity to learn a trade to make a living.  What I like about the program is the age range varies which shows it is never to late to learn something new or start over.

Yards Park Family Session- Maryland Photographer

When I say I LOVE this family...I mean it!  I have known them for quite some time and saw the brother and sister grow up and now they are welcoming another little bundle of joy.  Again this was another fun filled session outside at the Yards Park in Washington, DC and the kids had a blast.  We finished the session with a quick lunch afterwards.  Please, Like Share and Follow!

Morgan Family - Maryland Photographer

Another awesome family sat in front of my camera and allowed me to capture a brief moment of their time.  Loving, sweet and adorable explain them perfectly.  We had a great time in DC capturing these few images even though it was unbearably hot.  The boys were adorable and couldn't be any cute.

Chrisitian M. - Maryland Newborn Photographer

Anyone that photographs newborns knows that ever session is different.  For some reason lately my last three little boys have given me a run for my money and little Christian was no different.  Usually I swaddle and they sleep but he was not here for it!  He was awake the entire session!  We still managed to get some great photos with his sister and brother and is Grandmother.  Another loving family in the books and I am glad they are enjoying their images.

Editor-In-Chief Session - Maryland Photographer

Recently I was contacted by an amazingly talented women to photograph her Editor-In-Chief portraits for her upcoming magazine launch.  We had one brief conversation and I knew we would be a perfect combo.  Upon arriving at the location and meeting her glam squad things just came together.  Little did I know everything I was going to learn that day nor the connections to come.  God is always on time!

Fashion Blog Session - Maryland Photographer

Fashion, fashion, fashion!!!  This lady has the look as well as the wardrobe to match.  We met on IG and from there I knew we would work well together.  Love Joy Styles writes a blog and puts her own twist on fashion by breaking the rules and creating her own looks with a mix of vintage and new.  It is so much fun working with someone that is so creative and allows you to be creative as well.  Check out her blog here: http://bit.ly/1S0Irv6

Climbing the Ranks w/ Jas Boothe - Maryland Photographer

When you look around you see women in the military all the time!  It is not often that you see women that have gone through as much as MAJ Jaspen Boothe and have survived to tell her story.  Jaspen has made it her mission to tell her story and other women vets stories that cannot tell their own.  MAJ Boothe has organized countless resources for veterans across America and continues to do so through her organization Final Salute.  I am glad that she asked me to capture her moments as she pinned on the rank of MAJ in the US Army.  It was a joyous day for her and her family.  Please enjoy, like and SHARE.

Miss Zoe's One Year Session - Maryland Photographer

Photographing a first year session can be hit or miss depending on the amount of sleep.  This was the case for Miss Zoe as she was not having a good day but we did get a few images for her parents to have and share with family and friends.  I am appreciative that her parents braved the cold weather to achieve this short session and I look forward to working with them again.

Mills Maternity Session - Maryland Photographer

Excited that this former photography classmate of mine trusted me to take her maternity and family portraits for her third and final child...so she says! LOL!  It was a pleasure having the Mills family in the studio for the afternoon and getting to know her hubby and other two children who are eagerly looking forward to the arrival of their little brother next month!  Congrats Monae!

Introducing Miss Margo - Maryland Photographer

There is nothing like having a newborn in the studio in the afternoon!  Miss Margo was no exception and was a pure joy to meet and cuddle with!  She was so sweet with her head full of hair and overall calm disposition.  Her parents and little sister have become a staple in my studio and I can't wait to see more milestones from this family as they continue to grow!

VA Family Portraits - Maryland Photographer

I was excited to be contacted by this blended family to photograph their love for each other.  I recently met them while in school and built a quick respect and friendship with them.  The girls were absolutely adorable and one was camera ready at all times...which makes me very happy as a photographer.  It was a pleasure photographing them on location in Richmond, Virginia and I look forward to many more sessions together.

Merlene Ashley - Maryland Photographer

Excited was not the word to describe my emotions as Ms. Merlene stepped out with this burgundy hair and makeup on point for her session!  She came ready to work and gave it everything for these images.  We had a great time walking around Richmond to obtain these images and she was an ultimate professional.  I have learned to travel to find these hidden gems that others are not willing to.  I am grateful for finding her and hope that our paths will cross again.

Mr. Sean G Session- Maryland Photographer

Everyone meet Sean or Shon as he is listed on social media!  Sean is an aspiring actor who lives in the DMV and was awesome to photograph.  He was more than willing to listen and opened to all the crazy ideas I had for his session.  We have another shoot scheduled soon and I can't wait to see what comes out of it.  Stay tuned!
